That’s funny. Because, I feel like assholes who can decide what constitutes a “fan” of a show aren’t really “fans” at all. They’re just assholes.
THIS. ALL OF THIS. THIS. THIS. THIS ENTIRELY.
I hate people who do this. I admit, sometimes I think this of other people, and then I stop and remember that people are different and will take something they like and do different things with it.
Some people like certain pairings. Others like to make their own. Some people like certain characters. Some people like to make porn of a series. Some people started watching the show from the beginning. Others came in at a different time. Some people like one season or theme song, while others prefer another.
That doesn’t make you any less of a fan.
(I’m sorry for the rant, but I’m very sick of hearing about this sort of thing. This comes up in the Doctor Who fandom A LOT, too. It pisses me off..)

NGL, I was hesitant to start posting Sherlock stuff at all because I’m so used to people talking down to new fans. Then I realized that anyone who does that is a dick and isn’t worth my concern.
